Alice Springs & West Macdonnell National Park

Here we are, in the Red center, Alice Springs, the most central city in Australia. After having camped in a free camp near camels, hens, and lots of birds, we arrived in Alice Springs in the early morning and we enjoyed a soooooo goooood breakfast. Ça y est nous sommes au centre, Alice Springs, la ville la plus centrale d’Australie. Après avoir campé dans un camping gratuit à côté de chameaux, poules et une flanquée d’oiseaux, nous sommes arrivés à Alice Springs tôt le matin et nous avons petit déjeuner, miam, trop bon !

Then, as we are trying to work a bit, we tried to find some jobs in town but we had no success. So we chilled a bit and we set up the camp farther the town near the West Mcdonnell National Park where we will spend the next day. The morning was so cold, it was even freezing as it was really windy. We started to visit the Glen Helen Gorge, really impressive. Then, we had a view of the highest peak of this national park, Mount Sanders. The second gorge we saw was Ormiston Gorge. This one was even more impressive than the first one. While walking, we had a super lookout from the top. Woauuuh. We also saw the Serpentine Gorge which were really nice as well. Quick lunch and then next Gorge, Ellery Hole, one of the famous place there. I wish we could swim a bit but it was still really cold. Hopefully, it was sunny. For the last spot of the day and not the least one, we went to the Simpsons Gap. This one was really beautiful. With the sun coming down reflecting against the walls, it was a pure beauty. We saw a black feet kangaroo in the rocks, it was a tough game to try to see one of them because of their colors (Have you seen him on the last picture of the serie?)

Comme nous souhaitons travailler un peu, nous avons essayé de chercher du travail en vain. Donc nous nous sommes baladés et nous avons installé notre campement proche du Parc National West Macdonnell, où nous allions passer le jour suivant. Nous avons eu la matinée la plus froide que l’on n'ait jamais eue. Beaucoup de rafales de vent glacé. Nous avons commencé notre journée en visitant les Gorges de Glen Helen, vraiment impressionnantes. Ensuite, nous avons vu le plus haut pic du parc, le Mont Sanders. La deuxième gorge que nous sommes allés voir était la Gorge d'Ormiston. Celle-ci était encore plus impressionnante que la première. Nous avons eu un super point de vue en se baladant dans la gorge. Wouaou. Nous avons également vu les Gorges de Serpentine qui étaient également sympas. Déjeuner rapide et ensuite, nouvelle gorge, l’une des plus connues, Ellery Hole. J’avais espéré m’y baigner mais il faisait vraiment trop froid. Heureusement, il y avait du soleil. Pour le dernier spot de la journée et pas des moindres, nous sommes allés à Simpsons Gap. Ce dernier était vraiment canon. Avec le soleil tombant reflétant sur les parois, c’était d’une pure beauté. Nous avons vu un kangourou aux pieds noirs dans les rochers, c’était assez dur de les repérer à cause de leur couleur (vous l’avez vu sur l'a dernière photo de la série ?).

At the end of the day, we set up the tent at a rest area crossed by the Tropic of Capricorn. We finished the day as we began, with cold wind. We even ate our dinner in the car and the night was really noisy in the rooftop tent. Hope the weather will get warmer as we go more to the North :)

See ya. I&A A la fin de la journée, on a installé la tente sur une aire de repos au niveau de la traversée du tropique du Capricorne. Nous avons fini la journée comme nous l’avions commencée, avec du vent glacé. On a même dîné dans la voiture et la nuit était très bruyante dans la tente. On espère que le temps va se réchauffer vu que nous nous dirigeons vers le Nord. :)
