Berry Springs, Darwin

The road to Darwin is pretty long, yes. It looks close on the map but in reality it is really far. We had to drive more than 800 kilometers from Kununurra, and I don’t talk about the road from Darwin to Cairns in a week… 2 575 kilometers. This is going to be hectic. La route pour Darwin est assez longue. Cela semble proche sur une carte mais en réalité, c’est super loin. Nous devions rouler plus de 800 kms depuis Kununurra, et je ne vous parle pas de la route que nous ferons plus tard de Darwin jusque Cairns… 2 575 kms. Ça va être quelque chose !!

However, first, I will tell you everything about our journey to Darwin. The Northern Territory is interesting with all its free natural swimming pools. We stopped in the early morning at Berry Springs. The place was so quiet in the middle of a small jungle. The crystal clear water was warm enough to enjoy a morning swim. Perfect to start our day. Then, we drove to Darwin where we had to change our tyres, the four. Outch. The thousands kilometers of gravel and corrugated roads did not help ahah. A thousand bill after, we could visit Darwin… Bon, pour l’instant, je vais tout vous dire sur notre trip pour Darwin. Le Northern Territory est vraiment cool car il est plein de piscines naturelles gratuites. Nous nous sommes donc arrêtés une nouvelle fois à Berry Springs au petit maton. L’endroit était très calme au milieu d’une petite jungle. L’eau couleur cristal était assez chaude pour profiter d’un petit plouf matinal. Parfait pour se mettre en jambe. Ensuite, on a roulé jusque Darwin où nous devions changer les pneus, les quatre. Outch. Les milliers de kilomètres sur la route à gravillons et non goudronnés n’ont pas aidé ahah. Après un petit billet de 1000 dollars, nous pouvions aller visiter Darwin…

Darwin is in front of the Timor Sea and this waterfront is beautiful, but it is a bit frustrating as you cannot swim in the sea because of sharks and crocodiles. However, the city built a full area with lagoons, beach, and pool with waves. It is really nice and the restaurants around give this area a great atmosphere to chill. Darwin est en face de la mer de Timor et sa façade marine est vraiment jolie même s’il est un peu frustrant de ne pas pouvoir se baigner dans la mer à cause des requins et des crocodiles. Cependant, la ville a aménagé un endroit avec des lagoons, une plage, et une piscine à vagues. C’est réussi et les restaurants les entourant donnent à cet endroit une bonne atmosphère pour chiller au soleil.

We went to the famous Mindil Beach night Market where you can enjoy music, art crafts, food and a beautiful sunset on the beach. We were not used to walk that much anymore ahah but it was worth it to walk all this way to the market. Nous sommes ensuite allés au célèbre marché nocturne de Mindil beach où l’on a pu écouter de la musique, regarder des objets artisanaux, déguster de la bonne nourriture et profiter d’un coucher de soleil sur la plage. On n’était plus habitué à toute cette marche ahah mais ça valait le coup d’aller à ce marché.
