Edith Falls and the Katherine Gorges, Nitmitluk (Katherine) National Park

Every day is a new day, after having spent beautiful moments yesterday at the Kakadu National Park, today we saw amazing falls, at Edith Falls. This area belongs to Nimitluk (Katherine) National Park but is located more in the North part. We hiked about 10 kms that day to see 3 different pools as cold as the other one but he weather was so warm so it was perfect to cool down. Après avoir passé de supers moments hier au Parc National de KAkadu, aujourd’hui nous avons vu les belles chutes d’eaux d’Edith. Cet endroit appartient au Parc National de Nimitluk (Katherine) mais est situé plus au Nord du parc. Nous avons marché environs 10 kms ce jour-là pour voir 3 piscines naturelles différentes, aussi fraiche les unes que les autres, mais il faisait tellement chaud que c’était parfait pour se rafraichir. The following day, we visited the Katherine gorges located about 30 kms from the Katherine town center. They are 13 but to see them all you need to take a 8 hours ferry, and obviously a too expensive one. Therefore, we decided to walk 12 kilometers along the gorges to see at least 3 of them. The hike was not an easy one because it was on rocks and sand under the sun. We had one of the best lunch view for picnic on the lookout of the 2nd gorge. Look at that… Le jour suivant, nous avons visité les gorges de Katherine situé à environ 30 kms de la ville de Katherine. Elles sont au nombre de 13, mais pour toutes les voir, il faut prendre un bateau de 8 heures, et bien évidemment ça coute une fortune. Du coup, on a décidé de marcher 12 kilomètres le long des gorges pour en voir au moins 3 d’entre elles. Cette randonnée n’était pas des plus faciles car elle s’effectuait sur les roches et le sable en plein soleil mais nous avons pu profiter d’un pique-nique sur un point de vue dantesque. Regardez…

Coming back to the visitor center, the ice cream was well appreciated and the swim at the Katherine Hot Springs as well when we came back in town. Ahah Finally, we stopped at a free camp to enjoy the beautiful colours of the sunset. De retour au centre d’information, la glace fut très appréciée et la baignade aux sources d’eau chaude de Katherine également quand nous sommes revenus au centre-ville. Ahah Enfin, nous nous sommes posés à un camping gratuit pour profiter des belles couleurs d’un coucher de soleil.
