Four more days in the Tasmanian island

Hello sunshine, the night at Hobart has been the best night since ages. We were really exhausted after the Cradle Mountain Overland Track, more than we believed. However, still in an early and sunny morning (because we are still waking up with the sunrise and falling asleep with the sunset) we went to the famous hand-made Salamanca market to have a breakfast. Coucou vous tous, la nuit à Hobart a été l’une des meilleures depuis un long moment. On était réellement fatigués après notre Cradle Mountain Overland Trek, plus que nous le croyions. Cependant, toujours super tôt (parce qu’on se réveille et se couche toujours au rythme du lever et du coucher de soleil), nous sommes allés faire un tour au marché Salamanca pour petit-déjeuner.

Then, we grabbed our rental car to drive directly to the Bay of Fires National Park in the North East part of Tasmania. The name of ‘fires’ comes from the first sailors who approached the Tasmanian coast, the aboriginal people were making fires. Now, the colours of fires remains on the impressive orange-hued granite rocks alongside the white-sand beaches. We had a quick swim and the blue water was way warmer than in the Cradle Mountain National Park ^^. We had fun in the waves and then we stopped at a lovely camping spot for the night. Ensuite, nous avons récupéré notre voiture de location et avons conduit jusqu’au Parc National de Bay of Fires. Le nom « Baie de Feu » vient des premiers navigateurs à avoir aperçu les côtes Tasmaniennes où les aborigènes faisaient des feux. Aujourd’hui, la seule couleur feu que l’on y trouve est celle des impressionnantes roches en granite orange le long des plages de sable blanc. Nous nous sommes rapidement baignés dans l’eau qui était carrément plus chaud que lors de notre trek ^^. On s’est bien amusés dans les vagues et nous avons trouvés un super spot pour diner et camper.

Freycinet National Park / Wineglass Bay

The day after we went down to the South to see the Wineglass Bay in the Freycinet National Park. The weather was not kind with us but we still felt lucky, it didn’t stop us to walk a bit. The colour of the bay was not as it was supposed to be as the weather was grey and rainy but the two walks we did were enjoyable for our tired legs. Le lendemain, nous nous sommes dirigés vers le sud pour visiter le Parc National de Freycinet où l’on peut voir les Wineglass Bay. Le temps n’était pas super mais il ne nous a pas empêché de marcher. Les couleurs n’étaient pas celles supposées être parce que le temps était gris et pluvieux mais nous avons quand même bien appréciés les deux heures de marche pour nos jambes fatiguées.

Tasman National Park

In the south East part of Tasmania, there were beautiful views of the Tasmanian coast. First, we went to the Blow Hole and Tasman Arch, natural geological formations that has been shaped with the erosion. It was really impressive because it created a really big arch we could walk on. Then, we decided to go for a 3 hours walk called Cape Hauy. The walk was pretty easy with rocky steps but the weather was really hot, however it was worth it. At the far end, we were rewarded with the magnificent view of steep cliffs and rock formations it was amazingly beautiful. Dans la partie sud-est de la Tasmanie, il y avait de très belles vues de la côte. En premier, nous sommes allés voir 2 formations géologiques naturelles, « Blow Hole » et l’arche Tasmane qui ont été formées par l’érosion. C’était réellement impressionnant parce que l’érosion a créé une grande arche sur laquelle on pouvait se balader. Ensuite, on a décidé de faire une randonnée de 3 heures en direction du Cape Hauy. Cette rando était assez simple avec beaucoup de marches en pierres mais il faisait très chaud, malgré tout ça valait trop le coup !! Au bout de la rando, on a été récompensés avec la magnifique vue des falaises et des formations rocheuses, c’était très beau.

Hobart – Mount Wellington (aka. Kunanyi)

We woke up early this morning to go to the top of Mount Wellington (1271m). The wind up there was unbelievable, we were freezing!! However, we found a small and quiet place to hide ourselves from the wind and where we were alone with a view above the clouds. We had no words in front of that panorama. We had our best breakfast spot ever. It allowed us to think about the amazing week we spent and how amazing this adventure is and is going to be. The visit of Hobart was really nice as well. The city offered us a blend of heritage, scenery and culture with a modern lifestyle. We really enjoyed spending our last day in Tasmania in visiting that popular city. Nous nous sommes levés tôt le lendemain matin pour aller en haut du Mont Wellington (1271m). Le vent là-haut était incroyable, on était congelés. Cependant, on a trouvé un endroit calme où nous étions seuls et à l’abri du vent, et surtout un endroit au-dessus des nuages. Nous étions bouches bée devant ce panorama. La vue pour le petit-déjeuner était parfaite. Cela nous a permis de penser à la semaine que nous venions de vivre, à cette aventure et aux autres à venir. Enfin, nous avons terminé notre voyage en Tasmanie en profitant de la visite de Hobart, une ville mixant héritage et culture avec un style de vie moderne.

Go back to Sydney to change the luggage and then, it will be a new trip: New Zealand. Retour à Sydney pour changer les bagages puis, nous partirons pour un nouveau pays: la Nouvelle Zélande.
